Become a licensed commercial drone pilot. This technical course is designed for renewable energy, construction, and engineering professionals.

Drones are tools to generate new revenue by doing asset inspections, site surveys, mapping, marketing videos, and more. They’re inexpensive and incredibly versatile.

This is really three courses in one:

Part 1: FAA Unmanned Aircraft Commercial Operator License (Part 107) Knowledge Course
Since 2016, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has licensed commercial small Unmanned Aircraft System (sUAS, or ‘drone’) operators under 14 CFR Part 107. With the completion of a course of comprehensive ground instruction, prospective drone pilots can sit an FAA-administered computer-based test and obtain their Part 107 commercial operators license. This course covers regulations, sUAS operations, aircraft performance, weather, airspace and human factors and leads to a 60-question exam.

Part 2: Small Unmanned Aircraft System Flight Operations Course
Although the Part 107 license demonstrates the knowledge to safely and legally operate a drone in the National Airspace System (NAS), there is no flight and simulator training associated with its award. This Flight Operations Course introduces Part 107 holders and students to the skills required to safely prepare, launch, perform commercial flight tasks, land and perform basic maintenance on live small UAS. The course is mostly remote with guided simulator sessions, and then culminates in an in-residence portion of live flight and maintenance activities. A certificate of completion is awarded upon completion of written and flight assessments.

Part 3: SUAS Commercial Operations Procedures
Armed with a Part 107 license and ‘hands-on’ training, drone pilots are able to legally fly on commercial tasks for fee-paying clients. However, to safety deploy a briefed team to a properly surveyed, remote site with the correct PPE, data-cards, power supplies and payloads takes a little more. The Commercial Operations Procedures Course is an e-learning and in-residence program introducing advanced planning, procedures and field flight techniques for professional, commercial drone data gathering, and client task completion. A certificate of completion is awarded upon completion of a series of written, flight and data-management assessments.
