About this course
This course is designed for anyone involved in the process for interconnecting distributed energy resources, such as solar or energy storage, to the grid. If you work with a solar or energy storage company or a utility and work directly with customers, this course provides a roadmap for understanding the underpinnings of model interconnection processes. If you are a utility regulator or a policy professional, this course is designed to highlight the design of regulations that support state efforts to achieve their energy goals.
Module 1 focuses on the Customer Interconnection Journey by reviewing the basic design of utility interconnection procedures and following the customer interconnection journey from marketing and sales through system operation following construction.
Module 2 dives deeper into the details of utility interconnection by reviewing the Detailed Steps in the Utility Interconnection Process. Using the IREC Model Interconnection Procedures, this learning module demonstrates what effective interconnection processes intend to do, how they work when things go smoothly, and what measures are in place when a project hits a snag.
This course provides a strong foundation for those who are new to these processes or for those who have been involved in these processes and want to understand how the pieces fit together.
