Course description

SolarAPP+ is an online platform that completely automates the permitting process for residential rooftop solar. Developed by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), Solar APP+ was created through a rigorous, collaborative process by some of the leading subject matter experts in the field.

SolarAPP+ standardizes requirements and checks for safety and compliance on the spot to instantly catch code issues and errors. When a system is designed properly, the platform instantly approves solar permits without ever submitting plan sets or one-line diagrams. Overall, it cuts down the permitting process by at least 5 to 10 business days. Best of all, it's being offered for free to local governments across the country.

In this free course, you will learn about SolarAPP+, how it works via a technical demonstration, hear feedback from early adopters in local government, and learn next steps to begin using SolarAPP+ or to talk to your local jurisdiction about SolarAPP+ adoption in your area.

Note: Solar contractors must take and pass two training modules on the Interstate Renewable Energy Council (IREC) Learning Online portal to be authorized to login and submit permits on SolarAPP+. This HeatSpring course is purely informational.
