Lesson 1: Course Introduction & Relevant Codes and Standards

Welcome to Mayfield Renewables’ course on energy management with power control systems!
This one-hour course consists of four lessons, each with a short comprehension quiz and a conclusion. Students must watch the entire video and complete the quiz to proceed to the next lesson in the sequence.
This first lesson sets the scope of the course with learning objectives. Instructor Ryan Mayfield explains why energy management is a growing issue and how "energy management" and "power control systems" are defined in the National Electrical Code.

Lesson 2: PCS Applications

Lesson 2 overviews a few example applications for power control systems -- building from simple current setpoint functions toward integrated systems with controllable sources and loads.

Lesson 3 reviews the UL certifications for power control systems (PCS). Ryan discusses UL 1741 and UL 1741-CRD which acts as a bridge to a future UL 3141 standard.

Lesson 4: Documentation & Course Conclusion

In this, the final Lesson in this course, Ryan explains what documentation to look for when selecting a PCS. He then introduces some of the optional PCS functions in the upcoming UL 3141 standard before summarizing the key learning objectives for the course.
