Course Agenda

WELCOME - Orientation and Tools for Completing the Course

NOTE: A copy of 'Photovoltaic Systems' will arrive 1 month before the first day of the live training. Most of the reading assignments, starting with Lesson 3, come out of that book, so keep your eyes open for your copy. Completing these required assignments, along with attending the 3 day Solar Installer Boot Camp Training, will qualify you to sit for the NABCEP Entry Level exam.

Online Lesson 1 - OSHA and Solar Safety

The NABCEP Entry Level exam questions come from your textbook and the downloadable handouts below. As a part of NABCEP certification rules, your instructor is never allowed to see the exam questions so his training is geared towards the practical knowledge you'll need to have to be successful as an installer. To increase your chances of passing the exam, please read the following assignments carefully and spend time studying them prior to scheduling your exam.

Online Lesson 2 - Electricity Basics

If you're not an electrician, this is the important online lesson for you. If you can get a handle on the electricity basics it will pay off during your three days in the class.

Online Lesson 3 - Solar Basics

All reading comes from the text book, "Photovoltaic Systems". Please let us know by calling 800-393-2044 if you don't have your copy within a week of your registration date. In this section you'll review the basics of solar systems and the solar industry.

Online Lesson 4 - Solar Components

In this section you'll learn about the components that go into different types of solar pv systems.

Online Lesson 5 - Solar Integration

In this section we cover integrating the photovoltaic array with mechanical, electrical and structural systems of the building.

Live, Classroom Training - 3 Days On Site

This is the traditional classroom-based training portion of the course. It will be an intense few days - be sure to bring all of your questions with you to class. It will be a very interactive session.

NABCEP Entry Level Exam - When You Are Ready

MORE ABOUT THE CREDENTIAL

ISPQ Accreditation is the highest quality designation given to training in the solar industry by the Interstate Renewable Energy Council (IREC)!

It means this is a high-quality course that has been verified and recommended by the industry's governing body. The 'Solar Installer Boot Camp' teaches you to design and install solar electric systems from A to Z. ISPQ Accreditation sets this course apart from introductory or product-based trainings.

ISPQ Accredited courses launch you down the path toward NABCEP Installer Certification.

This training allows you to sit for the NABCEP Entry Level Exam, which is different from the NABCEP Certified Solar Installer Exam. Training alone does not allow you to sit for the NABCEP Certified Solar Installer Exam, but taking HeatSpring's ISPQ Accredited training counts towards the "Board Recognized Training" requirement. Follow this link for a complete list of requirements to become NABCEP Certified.

ISPQ Accredited courses give you the inside track on getting state rebates and incentives.

Some states require installers to be either be NABCEP certified installers or have taken ISPQ accredited training. Check the details of your state incentive program to find out if this is a requirement.
