The primary goal of this course is to teach you safe rigging techniques that reduce the risk of accidents and injuries. You will learn about types of rigging equipment, common signals and work practices, and how to properly select and utilize protective equipment. After you complete this course, you will be prepared to:

  • Identify and use proper protective equipment and procedures when rigging loads
  • Engage in safe work practices when raising, moving and lowering a crane’s load

  • Differentiate among synthetic, alloy steel chain, and wire rope slings and identify conditions that require each type to be removed from service.
  • Apply crane-safety procedures to identify hazards and select appropriate controls before and during a lifting operation.
  • Identify appropriate rigging hardware and hoisting configurations based on the load, lifting method, and required level of load control.
  • Determine the appropriate emergency response actions for common crane and rigging incidents based on the conditions presented.
  • Analyze rigging images, videos, and lift plans to identify safe practices, unsafe conditions, and opportunities to improve the lift.
