About this course
Power tools are the workhorses of a utility-scale solar job site, allowing crews to install hundreds of thousands of components efficiently, safely, and to spec across vast areas of land. Knowing each tool by name and understanding its purpose will help you work more safely, communicate clearly with your foreman and teammates, select the right tool for the task instead of damaging hardware or under-torquing critical connections, and progress faster toward the more skilled roles on a crew. In short, recognizing your tools is the first step from being a brand-new helper to becoming a reliable, productive solar professional.
Led by Jenny Conrardy, you will explore the proper selection, use, and safety considerations for key tools including drills, impact drivers, saws, and more. Through hands-on demonstrations and practical guidance, participants will gain confidence in tool operation and learn best practices for maintaining equipment in solar work environments. This course is designed specifically for new solar employees, apprentices, and career changers entering the solar industry who need to build foundational tool knowledge for safe and professional installation work.
