This bundle of courses is delivered entirely online. After you enroll, the courses will be added to your Account. There's a recommended progression to follow, but you have the flexibility to access the materials in whatever order you prefer. Pre-order courses are available on launch date. The courses are self-paced and you can set your own schedule to complete the materials. You can begin the lecture videos and other course materials as soon as you enroll. After successfully completing the course, you will be able to generate a certificate of completion.
How long do I have access to the materials?
Students get unlimited access to the course materials as soon as they enroll and for one year (365 days) after enrollment. Rewatch videos and review assignments as many times as you want. View updates the instructor makes to the course as the industry advances. Return to your course anytime with online access from anywhere in the world. After the one year of access expires, access can be extended by joining as a HeatSpring member. A single membership extends access to course materials for all past enrollments.
Is there a certificate of completion?
Yes, when you complete a course in this bundle you are eligible for a certificate of completion from HeatSpring. You can download your certificate as soon as you have completed all of the course requirements. Students can easily share their verified certificates on their LinkedIn profiles using our LinkedIn integration.

What are the continuing education requirements for California Electricians?
California electrician certifications last for three years. If you meet all requirements, you may renew as early as one year before yours expires.
Licensing renewal requirements include:
- Completing 2,000 industry-related work hours
- Taking 32 hours of continuing education relevant to the certification category
The Department of Industrial Relations (DIR) only accepts CEU credits from approved education providers like JADE Learning. We also maintain an Educational Services Agreement with the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) as required by CCR Title 8 Regulations 290.1.
Do I need certification?
Electricians are required to maintain certification if they make connections over 100-volt amps and work under a C-10 contractor licensed by the Contractors State License Board.
Is continuing education required for electrical recertification?
Yes. The DIR requires electricians to complete 32 hours of electrical continuing education from a state-approved provider every three years before their license is renewed.
How do I renew my California electrical license?
- Work for at least 2,000 hours in the industry and finish 32 hours of CE
- Complete the renewal application form
- Include a check or money order for $100 made payable to DIR - Electrician Certification Fund
- Mail the application and $100 renewal fee to:

You should hear from the department regarding the status of your licensure within 30 days.
Can I renew online?
No. According to the DIR website, online applications have been disabled until further notice. You can access a printable version of the application on the Electrician Certification Forms page. Click on the renewal application for the latest version.
Do I need to retake the exam?
Electricians who let their certifications expire or do not work for 2,000 hours within three years must pass the exam again.
Their applications must include a $200 exam fee, and these applicants do not need to complete CE.
Does California offer electrical licensing reciprocity?
Yes. Contractors or electricians who have been certified in select nearby states are eligible to take the CA exam. Learn how we can help with reciprocity here.
