What if I don't have the exact documentation required for my NABCEP application?

NABCEP looks at the intent behind documentation, not just the specific form it takes. The two most common documentation requirements are permits and inspections.

  • For permits, NABCEP needs to see that a system was approved for installation. This could be a local jurisdiction permit or, for off-grid systems, a signed letter from the property owner.
  • For inspections, a third-party licensed electrician or a NABCEP-certified PV System Inspector can perform the inspection if the local jurisdiction doesn't close out permits with their own inspection.

You can attach the documents you're considering and they'll review them informally and let you know. There's no limit on how many documents you can submit or how long the documentation step takes to complete.
