Vaughan (he/him) is the director of the ReVision Energy Training Center , ReVision's innovative workforce development arm. He joined us in early 2021 when ReVision joined forces with Insource Renewables, the company Vaughan founded and ran. Like ReVision, Insource was a worker-owned B Corp and had led statewide efforts to shape solar policy in Maine.
Vaughan's experience within the local and national solar industry is broad. He was chair of Maine's solar industry trade association during the height of policy battles. He was lead instructor for the U.S. Department of Energy's Solar Instructor Training Network in New England and New York, where he developed and delivered training to assist instructors from high schools, community colleges, labor unions, and universities to integrate solar into their technical training programs. He has developed and delivered solar training for Solar Energy International and Heatspring and provided code official training to inspectors and solar professionals throughout New York for the Interstate Renewable Energy Council and NYSERDA.
His writing has been featured nationally in Home Power, SolarPro, and PM magazines. He co-authored NABCEP's Solar Heating Installer Resource Guide and developed field inspection guidelines for jurisdictions in New York and Arizona. Vaughan has also served on technical committees for industry-leading organizations NABCEP, IREC, and IAPMO.
Prior to his work in the solar industry, Vaughan was involved in sustainable housing efforts within the Hopi and Northern Cheyenne Nations, ran an environmental education school in California, and worked in public schools in Maine, Colorado, and California. He holds a B.S. degree in civil engineering from the University of Maine and a M.A. degree in education from Prescott College.
Vaughan currently serves on Maine's Workforce Board and the Maine Community Foundation's Western Mountain Advisory. He has been dedicated to issues central to ReVision's JEDI initiative for the better part of two decades and fully committed to ReVision's effort towards energy democracy in the region.
A Maine kid through-and-through, Vaughan is frequently found in the hills, woods, and lakes of his lovely home state with his family.
