Manual J Boot Camp Training + Elite Certification

ONLINE

Description

Manual J calculations and accurate heating and cooling loads have always been important, but now building codes and rebate programs are requiring it. There's no need to pay someone else to do this for you - every contractor should know how. This course comes with Elite Software's 'RHVAC' program, and students use this program to learn how to calculate accurate heating and cooling loads through a series of video lessons, reading assignments, discussion, lectures, quizzes, and homework assignments. Students who successfully complete the course earn Elite Certification. (NOTE: To run Elite Software on a Mac, you'll need to do it through parallels, boot camp, or a PC emulator)

Agenda

WELCOME - Orientation Materials and Course Instructions

After you enroll in the course, your copy of Elite Software's "RHVAC" program is on the way! You can begin using the program and getting familiar with it before the course begins, though this is not required. This course is SELF-PACED, so you don’t have to be logged in at any specific time. Instructor John Walsh will be available via discussion board, email, and phone during the specified course dates to answer all of your questions. You also have access to the course materials for 120 days after the course ends.

Week 1 - Getting Started with Elite RHVAC Software

Lessons from this week will show students how to create a new project in RHVAC. We will begin entering the system data for our sample house that we will be using throughout the course to perform the Manual J Heat Load calculation.

Week 2 - Entering Room Data and Getting Comfortable with RHVAC

Lessons from this week will show students how to enter room data for their sample project. Students will learn several shortcuts and tricks to make entering room data less time consuming. We will also review some basics of performing Manual J heat load calculations in this week.

Mid Course Check In - Schedule your 1-on-1 call with John Walsh

John is a wealth of knowledge and loves to help his students learn more about Manual J and Elite's RHVAC program. Now that you have had a chance to learn from his material, the best way to answer any questions is talk on the phone. Feel free to just pick up the phone and call, or contact him via email to schedule a time to talk.

Week 3 - Air Distribution System Design and Tabular Manual D Duct Size Tool

Lessons from this week will get students using Elite's 'RHVAC' Tabular Manual D Duct Sizing tool. Students will learn basics of Air Distribution System Design and design a simple duct system for their project.

Week 4 - Completing the Load Calculation and Generating Professional Reports

Providing professional looking reports is a key aspect of any heat load calculation project. This week we finish up the load calculation for your cabin. Then we cover the reports available in RHVAC and how to customize them for your business.

FINAL EXAM - Complete a full Manual J Load Calculation using RHAC

Students who successfully complete the final examination problem will earn Elite Software's 'RHVAC Certification'. We also provide additional resources to build on the course and become a building science expert.

AFTER THE COURSE - Resources and Tools for Continued Success

No matter how much you learn in this course, you're going to encounter new things you couldn't predict when you're out in the field. Instructor John Walsh and the staff at HeatSpring are dedicated to continue supporting alumni. These tools will help keep you connected and engaged in the industry.
